Free Decor

Here in Texas we call these Osage Oranges or Horse Apples. The fruit of a plains fence row tree, these lime green orbs look like brain coral and are coming into their peak season right now. Luckily there are one or two in the fields around my house and I love the way they look piled into a big white bowl or basket.

Modern, interesting and in the most wonderful shade of green, but best of all...free! It's weird but the design home stores around Texas have fake ones of these that you can buy all year for your home decor! I prefer to wait for the real ones and bonus...they smell good, like a bowl of quince with a slight twist.

In the winter there are a few stubborn tress just outside of town that hold onto their fruit. A barren grass and gray tree landscape with bright green orbs hanging from every limb, like nature decorated her very own Christmas tree. I will have to remember to take a photo...
